In previous post , i discussed about the wearables and their APIs. I briefly discussed about the topmost wearable apis which you can start using and developing the apps. In this blog i will further elaborate more wearable apis we can use. Further i will discuss about the Gethealth API , an Unique API by which you will be able to get data from all the listed APIs.
Withings is known for design and innovation in connected health devices, such as the first Wi-Fi scale on the market (introduced in 2009), an FDA-cleared blood pressure monitor, a high-definition wireless security camera, a smart sleep system, and a line of automatic activity tracking watches. Withings provides the Health Mate App, which provides insights and also enables devices to get connected with the app. Withings provides the REST API by which we can access the data from these devices. In order to use the we need to register as a developer. For authentication mechanism we need to use Oauth 1.o. Here is the comprehensive withings API reference
UnderArmour API powers thousands of partners and developers, along with full suite of Under Armour applications: Under Armour Women, MapMyFitness, MapMyRun, MapMyRide, MapMyWalk, and MapMyHike. UnderArmour API uses Oauth 2.0 for authentication mechanism. API docs are available here. Also the developer account registration can be done here.
The FatSecret API provides you with access to comprehensive nutrition data for many thousands of foods, not to mention a range exercises and great weight management tools. The data available through this api is nutrition and other health data. Calorie Counter it the application by which we can enter the out intake food. the developer account can be set here. Fatsecret API uses Oauth 1.0 for authentication.
Jawbone Up API
Jawbone exposes the UP platform through an API intended to enable the exchange of data in order to extend and augment the UP user experience.UP API uses OAuth 2.0 protocol to authenticate incoming requests.the developer account can be created here. The whole list on endpoints are available here.
In this blog i discussed about the four popular APIs which can be used by the developers to build powerful applications or mashup. The developer time can be reduced significantly if you start using the GetHealth API which exposes all these APIs via single API interface.
